Why is it important to shop locally?

It supports your local community by shopping locally, you are directly contributing to your local community helping it to thrive. Otherwise, you will most probably be supporting a giant chain, meaning your local businesses will suffer. By supporting local businesses, you are in turn helping your local economy by creating more jobs. The more we support them, the more jobs will be created and the better off our local communities will be.  Another of the great things about independent businesses is that they’re run by dedicated people, and you will likely get to know them and they have interesting stories as to how their stores came to be. Every time you buy you are making a difference in the lives of many.

That’s why I continuously promoting and supporting local brands, artisans, artists, and especially newbie entrepreneurs like me based in Finland. Check the video below- Featuring the local makers/artists/businesses.

We are excited to add brands or products that are in line with our values and mission to sell products that bring joy to all and a sustainable livelihood to the community. We pray that this pandemic continues be fade and we can back to normal 110%.

Bayong Today

Ba-yóng – for Filipino it means bag, basket, made of woven palm leaves. It can also mean bird in another local dialect in the Philippines. Bayong is common among Filipinos going to wet markets especially in rural areas or provinces. Recently the Bayong is being promoted as an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic shopping bags.

Weaving is a major part of the Philippines’ art and culture. Filipinos weave different kinds of things such as slippers, hats, bags, and mats.

Making Bayong is another famous art weaving in the Philippines. It is an alternative to using plastic bags, which may vary in design and pattern due to their hand-cut nature. Locals usually use Bayong to carry their groceries as they head off to the market. The use of Bayong before is more popular in the provinces than in the cities but today it has evolved into a more fashionable style. Today, Bayong are versatile and come in different shapes and colors.
